On my mothers side of the family we are Lebanese but many of our family recipes have been lost over the years. My great aunt Annies fatayer was one of those lost recipes until I stumbled across this fatayer recipe in the St. Elijahs cookbook. My great aunt was a part of the church and was credited for many recipes in the cookbook that they now sell at St. Elijahs food festival. Fatayer is a crunchy but fluffy yeasted bread with a creamy and tart lebneh filling, dusted with flavorful zaatar.
